# Communication, payments and setup (permissions)

Three smaller permission areas — Communication, Payments (payment integrations) and Setup/menu layout.

This article walks through three smaller groups of permissions. Most are **menu visibility** — they control whether a screen is visible. One permission (editing the global menu layout) governs the action itself.

You assign these permissions in **Financial** under **Security → Groups** → select a group → **Permissions** (set Allow/Deny per permission).

## Communication (menu visibility)

These control whether the communication screens are visible. The screens are in Shop Manager (and some also in the POS).

-   **Access sms log** → SMS log
    
-   **Access sent emails** → Sent e-mails (e-mail log)
    
-   **Access text snippets** → Text snippets (reusable texts)
    

## Payments (menu visibility)

These control whether the setup screens for the individual **payment integrations** are visible. They appear only if the integration in question is relevant to you.

-   **Access Vipps Sales Units** → Vipps sales units
    
-   **Access Vipps Agreements** → Vipps agreements
    
-   **Access Flatpay companies** → Flatpay companies
    
-   **Access Stripe accounts** → Stripe accounts
    
-   **Access Worldline integrations** → Worldline integrations
    
-   **Access Billwerk account** → Billwerk account
    

## Setup and menu layout

### Edit Global Menu Layout

Controls whether the user may **see and edit the global (shared) menu layout** — the layout that applies to everyone. When denied, the user can only work with their own layout and cannot delete global layouts. This permission governs the **action** itself.

### Edit User Menu Layout

Controls access to **editing a per-user menu layout** in setup.

### Edit User Group Menu Layout

Controls access to **editing a per-user-group menu layout** in setup.

### Menu visibility (setup)

-   **Access Event Log** → Event log
    
-   **Access Cultures** → Languages/cultures
    

## Good to know

-   **Menu visibility vs. action:** Most permissions here merely hide/show a screen. \*Edit Global Menu Layout\* is the only one that governs an actual action (editing the shared menu layout).
    
-   **Allow vs. Deny:** An explicit **Deny** wins over an inherited **Allow**.
    
-   **Payment screens:** Typically shown only when the associated integration (Vipps, Stripe, etc.) is set up for you.
    
-   **Administrators** have all of these permissions by default.
    

### New permission: approve incoming emails

**Approve incoming email messages** – controls whether the user may approve or reject incoming emails in the inbox.
