# Account groups

Group your accounts into reporting lines used for balance, profit/loss and SaperaBI reporting.

With account groups you can collect your accounts into reporting lines – for example assets, liabilities, revenue and expenses. The groups are the foundation for showing figures from the chart of accounts together in balance, profit/loss and SaperaBI reports.

## How to access account groups

Open Shop Manager and go to the **Account groups** menu item. Access is controlled by permissions – contact support if the item is not visible.

## Create and link accounts

-   Create or edit an account group with a descriptive name.
    
-   Link the accounts from the chart of accounts that should be part of the group.
    
-   Sapera includes a set of standard account groups (reporting lines) that you simply link your own accounts to.
    

## Where account groups are used

The account groups are used as reporting lines in balance and profit/loss statements and in SaperaBI, so the reports can show your figures consistently across accounting companies.
