# How to attach the same image to several products

Step-by-step guide to attaching one product image to many item numbers at once via the Products action.

SyncTool has no separate "bulk image upload" action. Images are attached automatically as part of an ordinary **Products** import. The easiest way to give several products the same image is to point every item number at the same image file in a single column in your source list — you only need to keep one copy of the image.

## 1\. Put the image in one place

Save the image in one place on disk, for example C:\\ProductImages\\shared.jpg. You only need **one** copy — several products can point at the same file. Supported file types: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .gif and .tif.

## 2\. Build your source list

Create a CSV/Excel file (or SQL query) with two columns: one with the item number and one with the path to the image. Enter the **same** image path next to every item number the image should be attached to:

<table data-id="ed885646-f3ef-459f-92e5-24149827abc4" style="min-width: 50px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="01895ef5-7c06-45f0-b3ec-ed075f779372" style="text-align: left;"><strong>Item number</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="9620be77-2eee-4183-9c2b-fc9ee46ed28d" style="text-align: left;"><strong>Image</strong></p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="6da3f19d-7759-4f35-89bc-7f666deac3d1" style="text-align: left;">SKU123</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="4d87a9a4-a02d-467f-b22e-806b2aa77b97" style="text-align: left;">C:\ProductImages\shared.jpg</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="9490aa46-2c7f-4c4a-bbe0-4cfad11515fb" style="text-align: left;">SKU456</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="dcbcc5ae-fc25-4ec2-9562-671d5a40fff3" style="text-align: left;">C:\ProductImages\shared.jpg</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="8ade37c2-356c-4391-9417-d56a71882829" style="text-align: left;">SKU789</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="4844059e-4549-4e75-bcb2-d6a146f3791d" style="text-align: left;">C:\ProductImages\shared.jpg</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

The image path in the column can be:

- a **full local path** (for example C:\\ProductImages\\shared.jpg),

- a **file name or a relative path** that exists in the **Image folder** parameter, or

- a **web URL** (for example https://.../shared.jpg), which SyncTool downloads automatically.

## 3\. Set up a Products step

1. Select the **Products** action in SyncTool.

2. Point at your CSV/Excel file (or SQL query) with the item numbers as the source.

3. Map the item-number column to **Identifier** in the column mapping.

4. Map the image column to **Primary image** (PrimaryImageUrl). If you want to attach several images per product, there are also **Image 1**…**Image 12** (ImageUrl1–ImageUrl12).

5. Optionally set the following parameters:

<table data-id="febca307-4855-42ec-b6d8-641b8121a77b" style="min-width: 75px;"><colgroup><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"><col style="min-width: 25px;"></colgroup><tbody><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="d60dfb02-833e-4158-91dc-ce201db9448c" style="text-align: left;"><strong>Parameter</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="43710a9e-95db-4f8c-a847-a0f17208f733" style="text-align: left;"><strong>Example</strong></p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="52116cdd-7b7b-45a6-9d49-559c20744142" style="text-align: left;"><strong>Explanation</strong></p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="d0bdb084-15cd-4ebf-ac87-a2ceb0c9229e" style="text-align: left;"><strong>Delete existing images</strong> (DeleteExistingImages)</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="7c91163d-e687-405e-8a42-2fe5630a3266" style="text-align: left;">true/false</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="8b0f6e46-a0e7-4b66-92a4-980beec7c5b4" style="text-align: left;">True: removes the product's existing images before the new one is added. False: keeps them and adds the new one alongside.</p></td></tr><tr><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="f407e3ec-caf1-4cdf-989a-0465fe3fe60c" style="text-align: left;"><strong>Image folder</strong> (ImageFolder)</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="4c20591f-4076-4d7b-923e-54224c1baab6" style="text-align: left;">C:\ProductImages</p></td><td colspan="1" rowspan="1"><p data-id="961b4c79-7449-4c99-9a3f-c25933558484" style="text-align: left;">Optional. Base folder placed in front of the image column if it contains only file names instead of full paths.</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

## 4\. Run the step

Run **Compare** first to see the changes, then run **Update Sapera**. SyncTool creates the image as media and attaches it to each of the listed products.

## 5\. Check the result

Test with 2-3 item numbers before you run the whole list, and afterwards check a couple of the products in Sapera to confirm that the image was attached correctly.

## Alternative: automatic matching by file name

If you do not want an image column in the source list, SyncTool can instead find the images automatically from the **file name**. Put the images in a folder, named after the pattern <ItemNumber><Separator><sequence number>, for example SKU123\_1.jpg, SKU456\_1.jpg.

> Note: this route requires **one physical copy of the image per item number** (the same image copied and renamed for each item number), and only .jpg, .jpeg, .gif and .tif are matched this way. The source list must still have an **Identifier** column, but no image column.
