# Merge products

Merge one product into another so the two products become one. Suppliers, supplier item numbers and history are carried over.

With **Merge product** you can combine two products into one – for example if the same product was created twice by mistake. The selected product (the source product) is merged into another product (the target product), and the source's information is carried over to the target.

## How to find the feature

Open **Financial** from the hamburger menu in the top left corner. Select **Product** and then **Products**. Select the product and choose **Merge product into** in the **More** menu.

The feature requires a special permission. If you cannot see the menu item, you probably do not have permission for it – contact support.

## How to merge

1.  Select the product to be merged into another (the source product). A shadow product cannot be merged.
    

1.  Choose **Merge product into** in the **More** menu.
    

1.  Choose the product the source should be merged into (the target product) and confirm.
    

## What is carried over

The merge carries over, among other things, the product's suppliers. The **supplier item number** follows along: Sapera copies the supplier item number to the target product if the target does not already have a line for the same supplier with an item number. If the same supplier already exists with the same item number, it is skipped. The primary-supplier marking is only carried over if the target product does not already have a primary supplier.

Whether the source product is deleted afterwards is controlled by the **Delete source product after merge** setting in the product settings. When it is off, the source product is kept (typically deactivated).

## See previous merges

You can see what has been merged in the product's Info dialog and on the **Merges** tab on the product. Each merge is logged, so the history is preserved.
