Shipping methods are the freight solutions your company can use when a physical shipment needs to be created on a sales order. Here you define the carriers and delivery types that should be available — for example GLS home delivery or PostNord business parcel.
Each shipping method has a system name, a display name and a code. The display name is what the user sees when they select a shipping method. The code is the technical reference that Sapera forwards to the Shipmondo integration when the shipping label is created.
Go to Financial and select Setup in the menu. Then click Shipping methods.
If you cannot see the menu item, you probably do not have permission for it. Contact support.
The screen shows a list of all shipping methods. The columns in the list are Display name, System name, Code and Default. The Default column shows a check next to the method set as the default method.
The Delete button (red X) is shown on rows that have not yet been deleted. Deleted rows are by default removed from the list and hidden with a soft delete — the data is preserved in the system.
+ Create opens the edit screen in create mode, so you can add a new shipping method. The button is always available.
Edit opens the edit screen for the selected method. The button is only active when a row is selected in the list. You can also double-click directly on a row to open it.
Set as default sets the selected shipping method as the default method. The button is only active when a non-deleted method is selected and it is not already the default method. The default method is automatically preselected in the "Create shipment" dialog on sales orders, so the user does not have to select a shipping method manually every time.
Show deleted is a checkbox that toggles the display between showing and hiding deleted shipping methods in the list. Deleted methods cannot be selected as default and cannot be edited for active use, but they can still be viewed in the overview by enabling this option.
Delete (red X button on the row) deletes the selected shipping method after confirmation in a dialog box. It is a soft delete — the method is hidden from the list but the data is preserved. The Delete button is only shown for methods that have not already been deleted.
Click + Create to create a new method, or select an existing one and click Edit (or double-click the row) to edit it.
Fill in the fields and finish with Save to save and close the edit screen. Click Cancel to discard all changes and close without saving.
System name: The technical name that Sapera uses to internally identify the shipping method. The system name must not contain spaces, uppercase letters or special characters. The field is required and is shown both in the list and in the edit screen.
Display name: The user-friendly name shown in the dropdown menu when a user selects a shipping method in the "Create shipment" dialog. The name should be descriptive and understandable for employees, for example "GLS - Private Delivery" or "PostNord - Business Parcel". The field is required.
Code: A unique identifier for the shipping method, used as a technical reference in the Shipmondo integration. The code can, for example, be "GLSDK\_HD" for GLS home delivery. The field is required and can contain up to 50 characters.
Default: Shown as a check in the overview column. Indicates which method is selected as default and is thereby automatically preselected in the "Create shipment" dialog. The default status is set via the "Set as default" button — the field cannot be edited directly in the edit screen.
The shipping methods are used when a shipment is created on a sales order in Financial. On a sales order, the user can select Create shipment in the action menu. This opens the "Create shipment" dialog, where the user selects a shipping method from a dropdown with the methods set up here.
The default method (marked with a check in the list) is automatically preselected in the dropdown menu in the dialog, so the user does not have to select a method manually unless they want a different one. The selected method's code is forwarded to the Shipmondo API, which creates a physical shipment and generates a shipping label.
It is therefore important that the code on the shipping method matches exactly the method configured in Shipmondo, for the shipping label creation to succeed.
