Entity explorer is an administration tool in Sapera that gives you an overview of the system's security entities and lets you control who has which permissions to each entity. An entity is an object in the system, for example an organizational unit or an application resource, that access rules can be attached to.
The screen is intended for system administrators and is typically used in connection with setting up and troubleshooting access control.
From the hamburger menu in the top left corner of Sapera, open Financial. In the left menu, select Entity explorer.
If you cannot see the menu item in the menu, you probably do not have permission to it. Contact support.
The screen is divided into three sections that work together from top to bottom.
Entity shows a hierarchical tree of the system's entities. You can expand the tree and click an entity to work with its access settings. Entities can have sub-entities, and permissions can be inherited from parent entities.
Group or user names shows the list of accounts (trustees) that have an access entry on the selected entity. An account is either a user or a group. You can add a new account with the plus button and remove a selected account with the minus button.
Note: An account cannot be removed if its permissions are inherited from a parent entity.
Permissions shows the specific permission types for the account you have selected in the list above. The permissions are organized in categories and shown in a tree with two columns:
Allow indicates that the account is explicitly allowed to perform the action.
Deny indicates that the account is explicitly denied access to the action.
Changes to permissions are saved immediately when you check or uncheck a box. Inherited permissions from parent entities cannot be edited directly on the current entity.
