Inventory management is about keeping track of how many of each item you have, and what they are worth. In Sapera the inventory updates automatically when you sell, receive and move goods — but you also have tools to adjust and count.
Stock level — how many you have of an item right now.
Stock journal — used to register counts, corrections and adjustments before they are posted.
Stock status — the value of your inventory at a point in time, used in the accounts.
Correct inventory gives correct figures for both stock and accounts. That is why it is worth understanding how goods come in (receipts), go out (sales) and are adjusted (stock journals).
