This article describes the general settings under General for the Verifone payment terminal. The settings control how the local agent communicates with the payment terminal, and how the terminal's receipt text is printed.
The settings are read and used by the local agent on the PC where the terminal is connected. The Verifone terminal itself is activated in the parent category, which is described in the article Verifone Payment Terminal.
1. Open the menu in the top-left corner, and select Financial. 2. Go to Setup → Settings → Point of Sales → Agent application → Verifone Payment Terminal → General.
Note that access to these settings requires the necessary permissions.
These settings tell the agent how to reach the payment terminal. In most setups the terminal is connected via network (ethernet), and then it is primarily IP and Port that need to be filled in.
Communication Method: Selects how the agent communicates with the terminal. The default value is `ETHERNET`, which means the terminal is accessed over the network. Other values (for example serial connection) can in principle be specified depending on the terminal's connection. In practice the current Verifone model uses a network connection and primarily reads IP and port.
IP: The terminal's IP address on the local network. The agent uses this address to connect to the terminal, so the field must be set to the terminal's actual IP address. The default value is `192.168.1.153` and usually needs to be changed to the IP the terminal actually has on the network.
Port: The network port the agent uses to communicate with the terminal over ethernet. The default value is `2000`. Only change this value if the terminal is set up to listen on a different port.
Baud Rate: The speed for serial communication. This value only matters if the terminal is connected via a serial port. With a network connection (default) the value has no effect, and the default value is `0`.
These settings control how the receipt text the terminal delivers is printed.
Print in bold: Determines whether the terminal's receipt text is printed in bold. The value is specified as a number: `1` = on (default), `0` = off. With the default value `1` the text is printed in bold; if the value is set to `0`, it is printed without bold.
Print as one receipt: Determines whether the terminal receipt is printed together with the sales receipt as one combined receipt. The value is specified as a number: `0` = separately (default), `1` = combined. With the default value `0` the terminal receipt and the sales receipt are printed separately; if the value is set to `1`, the two parts are combined into one receipt.
